The programme committee will rate and select papers, taking into consideration the quality of the technical information and the regional and technical diversity of the paper proposals.

Paper Guidelines
Technical papers presented at KIPCE will be selected from paper proposals submitted to the programme committee. The programme committee will consider all paper proposals submitted by the deadline.
A paper proposal, containing a maximum of 300 words, should contain the following information:
- Description of the proposed paper: Summarise the scope and nature of the work upon which the paper will be based and describe how this paper will differ from other work in the area.
- Results, Conclusions: Describe the results to be presented in the paper and state specific conclusions of the work.
- Area of Interest: The programme committee requests that all paper authors indicate which of the technical categories and subcategories the paper proposal relates to (e.g. 4, 9, etc). Up to two may be indicated.

Programme Committee Procedures
Paper proposals are evaluated in accordance with the following criteria:
- The paper proposal should contain significant new knowledge or experience in some field of relevance.
- Data in the paper proposal must be technically correct. It must present the results of field experience.
- The substance of the proposed paper must not have been published previously in trade journals or other professional or technical journals.
- Prior to paper proposal submission, clearance must be obtained. Any problems concerning clearance should be outlined when the paper proposal is submitted.
- The proposed paper may present information about equipment and tools to be used in exploration and production. Such paper proposals must show the definite applications and limitations of such equipment and should avoid undue commercialism and extensive use of trade names.
- The paper proposal must be written in English.

Commercialism
The programme committee has a stated policy against the use of commercial trade names, company names and language that is commercial in tone, in titles, text or presentations. Use of such terms will result in careful scrutiny by the programme committee evaluating paper proposals and the presence of commercialism in the paper may result in it being withdrawn from the programme.

Copyright
All authors of papers presented at KIPCE will be required to complete and submit a copyright release form to SPE or submit the Copyright Exemption Form where applicable.

Manuscript Preparation
- Authors of papers selected for KIPCE will be notified by 7 July 2009.
- Authors offering papers should fully understand that a manuscript will be required for each accepted paper. Manuscripts will be required by 30 October 2009 for inclusion in the Proceedings CD-ROM. SPE operates a “no paper, no podium” policy which means that if the manuscript is not received by the due date then it will be withdrawn from the programme.
- The maximum desired length of any paper is 7,000 words, including figures and tables.
- Detailed instructions on the preparation of manuscripts and presentations will be sent to the corresponding author of each accepted paper.
- SPE assumes no obligation for expenses incurred by authors for travel, lodging, food, registration or other expenses.
- Selected authors will be required to register and pay the discounted speaker fees.
